Pía cake is a culinary heritage of the Chinese and Kinh communities in the Vung Thom region, Soc Trang - where the traditional craft of making Pía cakes has existed for over 200 years. The name "Pía" originates from the Teochew language; the crust is made using the characteristic multi-layered, thin-rolled technique of the Chinese, creating a unique crispness and light flakiness unmatched by any other cake.

The filling is a perfect combination of fragrant, rich durian, mild, buttery mung bean, and savory salted egg yolk, with three layers of flavor harmonizing in one bite. This is the most distinctive gift from Soc Trang, sought after by those far from home each time they visit.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Consume directly at room temperature to fully appreciate the flavor. If you prefer it warm, you can heat it in an oven at 150°C for 5 minutes to make the crust crispier and the durian filling more aromatic. Drinking it with green tea is the most traditional way Soc Trang people enjoy it.

STORAGE

Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. No refrigeration is needed if consumed within the shelf life. After opening, store in an airtight bag or sealed container and consume within 7 days. Do not keep near heat sources or humid places, as the crust can soften and lose its crispness.
